The Final Blog..... For Now

Wrapping up the semester...

It has certainly been an interesting semester and overall first year as a freshman in college. From experiencing what it means to be a student-athlete, to making new life-long friendships, it is crazy to me that my entire first year of school has already ended. Thanks to my communications class specializing in social media, I have kept this blog throughout my second semester of freshman year. With the theme of being a student-athlete, my blog held the goal of helping out future student-athletes and simply sharing my life from a background view. 

I enjoy writing, especially writing about myself, so a personal blog was extremely enjoyable to me and I was excited to hear it could double as completed homework assignments! I think that my blog is a good representation of who I am and what is important to me, so it fits into the other elements of my digital footprint well.

New Media this Week Throughout this week I have been keeping track of my social media usage, and boy has it been enlightening! A day in the life of Becca involves a lot of constant media and a consistent flow of me picking up my phone, even if it is simply for a quick 15 second check in.  Our world depends heavily on the use of social media, mainly for easy communication, and I am not an exception. Due to guest speakers in my social media course I have been shown just how substantial social media's role in the world can be. Specifically for activist groups and those hoping to make a change, social media provides an outlet to bring similar minded people together and form the beginnings of real change.  The Things you need to know! College itself is always a whole new adventure for students, but if you throw in being a D1 athlete, it gets all the more busy! If you are in high school and considering a future in sports, I highly suggest it, but here are some tips on how to handle it... 1. Learn how to time manage! Life moves fast, and when you are constantly juggling a sport, school, and friends, it is common for it to move too fast. Time management is a crucial skill to all, but especially for athletes. Determining a time for homework that works around practice times and games is a much greater thing than one might think!
